Frontier IP Group Plc (LON:FIPP) said it has partnered with the UK’s Department for International Trade (DIT) to step up its presence in Portugal.
The AIM-listed investment firm, which focuses on commercialising intellectual property from universities, said the agreement would see the British Embassy in Lisbon provide strategic support to the company through regular meetings with the ambassador and DIT staff in addition to introductions to potential industry partners and key decision makers in the Portuguese government and economy.

The firm already has formal relationships with two Portuguese universities, the Universidade de Nova de Lisboa Faculty of Science and Technology (FCT Nova) and the Universidade de Évora, adding it was currently in discussions with several other Portuguese universities and research institutes.
Commenting on the partnership, Kirsty Hayes, the British ambassador to Portugal, said: “Frontier IP plays a key role in stimulating a two-way flow of knowledge and brings a wealth of expertise into the commercialisation of IP, narrowing the gap between university research and successful commercial products”.
Chief executive of Frontier IP, Neil Crabb, said the partnership with DIT and the embassy would provide “invaluable” support and connections for the company.
