NetScientific portfolio company ProAxsis awarded third CE mark for respiratory disease test

The investment firm said the mark, registered for ProAxsis' ProteaseTag Active Proteinase-3 Immunoassay, was accompanied by a first commercial sale of around £5,000

NetScientific PLC (LON:NSCI) said its portfolio company, ProAxsis Limited, has registered a CE mark for an immunoassay to help research respiratory diseases.

The AIM-listed investment firm, which focuses on commercialising intellectual properties in the healthcare sector, said the CE mark had been registered for ProAxsis’ novel ProteaseTag Active Proteinase-3 Immunoassay, which was accompanied by an immediate first commercial sale of around £5,000 to a large US-based biotech company.

An immunoassay is a procedure of detecting or measuring the presence of molecules through the use of an antibody or an antigen.

NetScientific said the product would be aimed at clinical researchers studying respiratory diseases such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), Cystic Fibrosis (CF), and bronchiectasis.

The CE mark registration is the third product from ProAxsis to successfully achieve the mark, following its Plasmin and Neutrophil Elastase immunoassays.

Francois R. Martelet, chief executive of NetScientific, said the immunoassay had “significant potential” for utilisation in the study of COPD, cystic fibrosis, and bronchiectasis in both the pharmaceutical sector and academia.
