A Linius virtual engine unlocks videos and makes them searchable

Linius Technologies Ltd (ASX:LNU) has inked an agreement with newswire and major broadcaster content aggregator Newstag to deploy its Linius Search Solution to hyper-personalise clients’ news experiences.

The first stage of the rollout to the aggregator will involve deploying the search tool across the Newstag website and to its archives so the content provider can personalise the news experience for its client list of more than 20 broadcasters.

Income prospects

Linius said the Search Solution rollout would create value through Newstag’s Infinite Heart Program and bring in monthly licence fees.

The company would earn US$1 per video virtualised and US$40 per thousand videos assembled.

Newstag will receive a discount rate of US$10 per thousand for video assembly until a future commercial deal is signed.

Linius CEO Chris Richardson said: “Linius is in the commercialisation phase of our business and is targeting market leaders in the news, sports, education and corporate communications sectors, with our video hyper-personalisation capability.”

Partnered commercialisation

The agreement partners plan to sell their combined search to “deliver hyper-personalised news experiences with a social impact” globally to thousands of news broadcasters and news content providers.

They plan to target Newstag’s clients and a wider audience with the service.

Newstag chairperson Dr Camilla Dahlin-Andersson will join Linius’ company advisory board to assist with a combined go-to-market plan.

Dr Dahlin-Andersson said: “Newstag is excited about working with Linius to rapidly scale our personalised video news content offering helping users to find relevant content more efficiently. Linius’ technology will allow us to gain market share in this rapidly evolving market.”

Data hook

Video currently makes up 80 per cent of web traffic and Linius’ patented Video Virtualization engine (VVE) allows people to unlock videos and make the content searchable.

That ability to expose the data in a video file is a point of difference for Linus and is a drawcard for video content providers across the globe

VVE is already available on Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and IBM Cloud.
