iRobot, maker of the Roomba, beats second-quarter estimates and raises outlook

The consumer electronics company raised its full-year guidance

iRobot Corporation (NASDAQ:IRBT) announced its second-quarter results, beating analyst estimates and raising its full-year guidance.

The consumer electronics company reported earnings of US$0.37 per share on revenue of US$226.3mln compared with US$0.12 on revenue of US$183.14mln in the previous year’s second quarter.

The Massachusetts-based company beat Wall Street estimates of US$0.18 EPS on revenue of $219.74mln.

Shares of the tech company were up more than 16% to US$82.70 in Tuesday after-hours trading.

The company manufactures Roomba robot vacuums, ranging in price from US$299 to US$899.

The robot vacuums were a featured product for the fourth consecutive year in the US on Amazon.com Inc’s (NASDAQ:AMZN) Prime Day and sold out.

For the year ahead, the electronics company raised its outlook, expecting earnings between US$2.30 and US$2.50 on revenue between US$1.06bn and US$1.08bn. Its previous guidance expected earnings between US$2.15 and US$2.40 on revenue between US$1.05bn to US$1.08bn.
