Shoppers can also take advantage of deals in-store at the newly acquired Whole Foods Market chain

Bargain shoppers rejoice! Amazon.com Inc’s (NASDAQ:AMZN) Prime Day celebration kicks off today.

The e-commerce giant is offering deals exclusive to its Amazon Prime members. The promotional event encourages shoppers to join the Prime membership program, which costs US$119 per year.

The fourth annual Prime Day sale begins July 16, at differing times depending on a user’s time zone, and will last for 36 hours.

Shoppers across the globe will be able to join in on the deals, including customers in all of North America, the UK, Australia, Japan, India, China and nine other countries across Europe and Asia.

The sale is expected to rake in US$3.4bn this year, according to retail researcher Coresight Research.

For the first time, shoppers can take advantage of deals in brick-and-mortar stores. Amazon customers in the US will be eligible for discounts at Whole Foods Market, the recently acquired grocery retailer.

Prime Day deals include many of Amazon’s own products, including an Echo Dot for US$29.99 and a Fire TV stick and Alexa voice remote for US$19.99.

Shares of Amazon were up slightly to US$1,820 in Monday pre-market trading. The shares reached an all-time high Thursday and continue to climb.
