Dunkin’ Brands Group names head of US brands as its new CEO

New CEO David Hoffman, former Dunkin' Donuts US president, will replace retiring CEO Nigel Travis

Dunkin’ Brands Group Inc (NASDAQ:DNKN) has named a new CEO to lead its doughnut shop empire.

The coffee chain will be led by David Hoffman, the former Dunkin’ Donuts US president, effective immediately.

He was involved with several aspects of US operations, including the supply chain, marketing, franchise development and the creation of Dunkin’ Donuts’ next-generation concept store.

Hoffman replaces former CEO Nigel Travis who is retiring from the position he has held since 2009. He will stick around to serve as executive chairman of the board and work on developing the international business.

“When we recruited Dave to Dunkin’ Brands 18 months ago with the intent that he would succeed me as CEO, we knew that we were getting a world-class leader with extensive restaurant industry expertise, and he has exceeded all of our expectations," said Travis in a press release.

Prior to working with Dunkin’ Brands, the new CEO worked with the McDonald’s Corp (NYSE:MCD) for more than two decades.

The company has 12,538 Dunkin' Donuts points of distribution as of the end of December 2017.

Shares of the Massachusetts-based chain were down slightly to US$70.10 in Wednesday pre-market trading.
