A boys soccer team and their coach have been trapped in a flooded cave in northern Thailand for about two weeks. The high water levels and drop in oxygen levels are making rescue attempts tricky, already claiming the life of former Thai Navy SEAL chief Rear Admiral Aphakorn Yoo-kongkaew.
In a series of tweets Thursday, Musk announced that he would be sending engineers from his companies Boring Co and SpaceX to assist in the rescue effort.
SpaceX & Boring Co engineers headed to Thailand tomorrow to see if we can be helpful to govt. There are probably many complexities that are hard to appreciate without being there in person.— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) July 6, 2018
Musk’s Boring Co specializes in digging tunnels for its transportation system, including the Loop, a high-speed underground public transportation that transports passengers at speeds between 125 to 150mph.
Shares of the electric vehicle company were down nearly 2% to US$304.67 in Friday pre-market trading.
