Martin Sorrell 'in talks' to buy MediaMonks in first acquisition since leaving WPP as CEO

Hedge-fund manager Crispin Odey said the acquisition talks are continuing

Martin Sorrell, who left WPP PLC (LON:WPP) as chief executive in April over personal misconduct allegations against him, is reportedly in talks to buy Dutch company MediaMonks.

Crispin Odey, a hedge-fund manager who is preparing to support Sorrell's acquisition, said the talks are ongoing, the Financial Times reported.

An acquisition of MediaMonks, which creates websites, games and films for advertising agencies, would be Sorrell’s first since stepping down from WPP.

Sorrell’s departure from the business he founded came after claims of personal misconduct and misuse of company funds against him were leaked to the press.

He denies the claims and has called for an investigation into how The Wall Street Journal got hold of the story.

Founded in 2001, MediaMonks produces digital advertising campaigns for such clients as Lego, Audi and Mercedes-Benz.
