Ofgem said SSE PLC (LON:SSE) has paid £190,000 to compensate customers who lost money due to delays in switching over to a new tariff after withdrawing ‘label partnership’ tariff with non-profit energy provider Ebico.
The UK energy regulator Ofgem said suppliers have 49 days to move customers onto another tariff, but SSE took almost six months, with some customers losing savings because of the delayed switch.

SSE also made a goodwill gesture payment of £475,000 to the customers who were switched but ended up paying more on the tariff.
At the end of 2016, SSE terminated its partnership with Ebico, and in February 2017, SSE withdrew the white label tariff with non-profit energy provider from the market.
SSE is currently in the process of merging with Npower, which is being investigated by the Competition and Markets Authority.
In lunchtime trading, SSE’s shares rose 0.4% to 1,355.00p.
