HSBC PLC (LON:HSBA) has named Ewen Stevenson, the outgoing chief financial officer of Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS) to succeed Ian Mackay, who is retiring as its group finance director.
In a brief statement, the global banking giant said the specific retirement and appointment dates will be confirmed in due course.

HSBC’s CEO John Flint said: "Ewen is a highly experienced executive with a proven track record as a chief financial officer. He is both a strategic thinker and a highly accomplished expert in his field. He brings a wealth of international experience and will be a welcome addition to the senior management team."
Stevenson, whose departure from RBS was announced on May 30, the same day as the bank's annual general meeting, joined the majority-state owned lender in 2014, and was previously co-head of the Europe, Middle East and Africa investment banking division at Credit Suisse.
RBS had only said in its statement last month that Stevenson was leaving his role as CFO and executive director “to take up an opportunity elsewhere.”
