With US stocks seen starting higher, several stocks are in focus, including mobile phone and tech giant BlackBerry Ltd (NYSE:BB), which saw shares add 1.71% to US$11.90 in New York before the bell.
It came as the group unveiled a quarterly loss to end May on Friday, compared with a profit a year ago after it received a one-time arbitration payment of US$940mln from chipmaker Qualcomm Inc (NASDAQ:QCOM).
The net loss for the three months was US$60mln, or 11 cents per share, compared with a profit of US$671mln, or US$1.23 per share, a year earlier.
Also in pre-market deals, PayPal Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:PYPL), the payment processing titan, saw shares shed 0.023% to US$85.95 in pre-market, after the company unveiled an acquisition.
The group has agreed to acquire a fraud prevention technology company based in California called Simility for US$120mln in cash.
PayPal wants to offer small online merchants the same capabilities of the bigger e-commerce players.
Elsewhere, CarMax Inc (NYSE:KMX) shares shed 0.070% before the bell, having closed 2.43% lower on Thursday, as it posted first-quarter numbers.
Net earnings increased 12.7% to US$238.7mln and net earnings per diluted share increased 17.7% to US$1.33, while net sales and operating revenues increased 5.5% to US$4.79bn, the company revealed.
Bristol Myers Squibb Co (NYSE:BMY) shares are up 0.57% in pre-market to US$54.25 after the all-powerful FDA accepted an application to use Bristol's Opdivo (nivolumab) in combination with low-dose Yervoy (ipilimumab) to terat lung cancer in some patients.
This is the first application for a I-O/I-O combination regimen for lung cancer to be accepted by the US FDA (Food and Drug Administration).
