Sirius Minerals PLC (LON:SXX) announced a 7-year supply deal which will see it sell POLY4, the fertiliser product from its Yorkshire mine, to Intercontinental Trade DMCC Dubai which will, in turn, distribute it in Nigeria.
The supply deal covers up to 350,000 tonnes of POLY4 per year for the seven years following the start of production.
"Africa is a huge potential market for POLY4 and we are very pleased to establish our initial footprint in Nigeria, which is the largest market in West Africa,” said Chris Fraser, Sirius Minerals chief executive.
Meanwhile, Dalradian Resources Inc (LON:DALR) (TSX:DNA) has agreed to be taken over by private equity firm Orion Mine Finance in a deal that values the Canadian miner at C$437mln.
Orion, which currently holds a 20.4% stake in Dalradian, will buy the rest of the shares that it does not already own.
Dalradian shareholders will receive a cash consideration of C$1.47 for each of their shares, representing a 62% premium to Wednesday’s closing price.
Elsewhere, Greatland Gold plc (LON:GGP) said it had found gold nuggets at its Black Hills project in Western Australia.
The company said multiple pieces of gold had been recovered from the surface in the first few days of fieldwork at Black Hills.
Fieldwork only started this week but already it is obvious that the area is prospective with numerous indications of mineralisation in bedrock.
In other news, Erris Resources plc (LON:ERIS) identified a series of anomalies indicative of gold mineralisation in a ground magnetic survey at its Brännberg gold project in Sweden.
The company is in a joint venture with Centerra Gold (TSE:CG) at Brännberg, with Centerra providing US$1.85mln in funding during 2018 for exploration.
Work to date includes the ground magnetic survey, as well as electromagnetic and induced polarisation surveys, surface sampling, mapping and drilling.
On Friday, Chaarat Gold Holdings Ltd (LON:CGH) announced that its exploration drilling has extended mineralisation at Tulkubash gold project in the Kyrgyz Republic.
The AIM-listed exploration and development company said that 3,750 metres have been drilled to date from the planned 30,000 metres drilling program for 2018.
The company said gold mineralisation demonstrated to continue over 500 metres along strike north-east of the existing 1-million-ounce resource.
The day before, Bluebird Merchant Ventures Ltd (LON:BMW) said it had received "excellent’ results" from vat leach metallurgical test work conducted on an ore sample from Adit 4 at the Gubong mine in South Korea.
The Asia-focused resource development group said additional test work carried out on the Gubong oxide sample using a simple process known as vat leaching yielded recoveries of more than 90% (up to 97%).
