The banking giant may soon expand beyond its Bitcoin futures trading, according to COO David Solomon

The Crypto Report

The Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE:GS) may be looking into cryptocurrency trading derivatives, according to a Bloomberg report.

COO David Solomon said in an interview that the company is looking to expand beyond its Bitcoin futures trading.

“We are clearing some futures around Bitcoin, talking about doing some other activities there, but it’s going very cautiously,” said Solomon. “We’re listening to our clients and trying to help our clients as they’re exploring those things too.”

The finance giant announced in May that it will be opening a Bitcoin trading operation, using its own money to trade Bitcoin futures contracts with clients.

The Winklevoss brothers are one step closer to creating a bitcoin exchange-traded fund, winning another US crypto-related patent.

The patent details a method "for providing an exchange-traded product holding digital math-based assets,” according to a Coindesk report.

Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss are the founders of crypto exchange Gemini.

The brothers had proposed a bitcoin-related ETF in March 2017 but the US Securities and Exchange Commission denied the bid, citing concerns about potential fraudulent activities.

The Canadian Senate approved Bill C-45 on Tuesday, legalizing recreational cannabis throughout the country.

Cannabis cultivator Tilray Inc has filed paperwork with the SEC for a Nasdaq initial price offering, planning to list under the ticker symbol “TLRY”, according to a Leafly report. The British Columbia-based company has not yet disclosed any details about the number of shares or the price range.

Hemp company Freedom Leaf Inc (OTCQB:FRLF) is moving into the dietary supplement market, acquiring the patent for a product that claims to reduce cholesterol levels. While the supplement is not hemp-based, the company believes it will be right at home in its line of Hempology brand products.
