Pizza Hut has pledged to serve antibiotic-free chicken by 2022 as part of its commitment to serving healthier food.
The Yum! Brands Inc-owned (NYSE:YUM) restaurant chain offers chicken as a pizza topping but also offers WingStreet chicken wings.
"We are dedicated to listening to our customers and to serving better food. Today's announcement to no longer serve chicken raised with antibiotics by 2022 demonstrates our commitment to serve food that not only tastes great, but that customers can feel good about eating," said Chief Brand Officer Marianne Radley in a press release.
The pizza chain removed additives BHA/BHT from its meats in 2016 and no longer used artificial preservatives in its cheese as of 2017.
Shares of Yum! Brands were up slightly to US$82.81 in Tuesday pre-market trading.
