CRH PLC (LON:CRH) has received approval from the US Federal Trade Commission for its takeover of Kansas-based cement manufacturer Ash Grove Cement Company.
The FTSE 100 building materials business said the commission had issued a consent order for the transaction in which CRH would acquire Ash Grove for a total consideration of US$3.5bn.

The approval follows news yesterday that CRH had agreed to sell a cement plant and quarry in Montana, as well as sand and gravel pits in Nebraska and four facilities in Kansas in order to secure antitrust approval for the takeover deal.
The acquisition will help tighten CRH’s grip on the North American market, where it is already the largest concrete products supplier and second largest supplier of aggregate construction materials.
In early morning trading Friday, CRH shares were up 1.3% at 2,885p.
