Curis Inc (NASDAQ:CRIS) was a top gainer after the biotech proceeded with its 1-for-5 reverse stock split, reducing the number of shares to 67.5 million from 337.5 million. The Massachusetts-based company develops drugs to treat cancer. There are four drug candidates in its pipeline. Shares of the biotech jumped more than 9% to US$2.50.

Oragenics Inc (NYSE:OGEN) has announced positive interim safety analysis results from its Phase 2 clinical trial of AG013, a treatment for oral mucositis. The condition is a common side effect of cancer treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation, causing painful sores in the mouth. Upon review of the data by the Data Safety Monitoring Board, the clinical trials can proceed. Shares of the Florida-based company jumped more than 60% to US$1.94.

Movado Group Inc (NYSE:MOV) shares jumped after reporting better-than-expected first quarter results. The watchmaker beat analyst estimates on earnings and revenue, reporting adjusted earnings of US$0.37 per share on revenue of US$127.21mln versus estimates of US$0.11 per share on revenue of US$109.5mln. The luxury retailer raised its yearly guidance as well. Shares of the company surged nearly 18% to US$49.65.
Chico’s FAS Inc (NYSE:CHS) shares sank after reporting a first-quarter earnings miss and weak guidance for the year ahead. The fashion retailer reported earnings of US$0.23 per share on revenue of US$561.82mln versus Wall Street estimates of $0.25 per share on revenue of US$552mln. For the year ahead, the company is forecasting a decline in net sales and same-store sales. The clothing chain’s shares fell more than 20% to US$7.80.
