Dalata Hotel Group adds Bristol and Birmingham to UK expansion

Lease agreements for two new hotels expands the UK development pipeline to around 1,700 rooms

Dalata Hotel Group PLC (LON:DAL) is continuing its expansion into the UK, agreeing leases for two new sites - one in Bristol and one in Birmingham.

Together it will add 580 new bedrooms to the group’s portfolio, which now has some 1,700 new rooms in its UK development pipeline.

“We are delighted to secure agreements to lease these two very exciting new hotels in the heart of Bristol and Birmingham,” said Dermot Crowley, Dalata deputy chief executive.

“Both cities possess very strong hotel markets and these two projects demonstrate our ability to grow a very attractive development pipeline of hotels in the UK.

“In Dalata, we pride ourselves on developing long term partnerships. We are already developing hotels with Artisan and McAleer & Rushe and we now look forward to working with them again on these projects."

The Irish hotels group, which operates the Clayton and Maldron branded hotels, has seven Clayton hotels in the UK - two in London, plus sites in Cardiff, Leeds, Birmingham, Belfast and Manchester Airport - and it is developing new sites in Manchester and Glasgow.

Under the Maldron brand, it operates three hotels in Northern Ireland and it developing sites in Newcastle and Glasgow.

In Ireland, the group has 24 hotels (12 under each brand).
