Aviva to compensate 6,000 customers affected by problems with pensions platform

Aviva customers faced payment delays and other issues resulting from a botched update to a pension platform.

Aviva PLC (LON:AV.) will pay an undisclosed amount to compensate 6,000 customers affected by problems with one of the British insurer’s pension platform.

The customers faced payment delays and other issues resulting from a botched technology update to the platform.

A spokesman for the company said 3% of 200,000 pension customers encountered troubles with the platform, according to Reuters. The spokesman did not provide a figure on the size of the compensation.

Last month Aviva said it would shell out up to £14mln to compensate investors who lost money after abandoning plans to cancel high-yielding preference shares.

The Financial Conduct Authority is examining the company’s treatment of its preference share customers, which could result in a formal investigation.

In mid-morning trading, shares in Aviva were little changed at 543p.
