Frontier IP says portfolio firm Molendotech launches bathing water test

The AIM-listed intellectual property firm said it is the first commercial application for Molendotech’s novel test able to identify the concentration of faecal bacteria in water

Frontier IP Group Plc (LON:FIPP) has announced that Siren BW, a water testing kit developed by its portfolio company Molendotech Ltd., has been launched by Palintest Ltd, a subsidiary of FTSE 100 group Halma PLC (LON:HLMA).

The AIM-listed intellectual property firm said it is the first commercial application for Molendotech’s novel test able to identify the concentration of faecal bacteria in water.

The company said that currently it can take two days for local authorities to assess the quality of recreational waters, but Palintest’s field-ready kit produces a result in less than 30 minutes.

Frontier IP said the kit is initially available in the UK and Ireland, with a roll-out to continental Europe and the US planned.

It added that further applications are now being developed in collaboration with Palintest to leverage the real-time availability of pathogen risk in water.

Molendotech, a spin-out from the University of Plymouth, was incorporated less than a year ago to develop and commercialise the work of Simon Jackson, professor of Environment and Human Health within the university’s Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry.

Neil Crabb, Frontier IP's chief executive officer, commented: “We’re delighted the agreement with Palintest, announced earlier this year, is bearing fruit so quickly.”

He added: “It has taken less than a year from Molendotech joining our portfolio to the commercial launch of its first product.”

In early morning trading, Frontier IP shares were 2.9% higher at 88.5p.
