Proactive Mining Highlights: Bezant Resources, Vast Resources, Ariana Resources

This week the mining sector saw news of major asset potential, record production numbers, and new permits

Bezant Resources plc (LON:BZT) announced that its Mankayan copper-gold project in the Philippines is to be a “world class asset” and has major potential to generate further value.

The AIM-listed firm said its in-depth internal review process across all aspects of its operations and portfolio assets revealed that the Mankanyan project represents one of the most advanced copper-gold projects not currently being developed.

Meanwhile, Vast Resources PLC (LON:VAST) highlighted “another record quarter” for the group’s Pickstone-Peerless gold mine in Zimbabwe, where overall gold production and sales increased by 4% and 14% respectively.

Pickstone-Peerless produced 6,326 ounces of gold in the quarter, up from 6,057 ounces in the preceding quarter. Gold sales rose by 14% to 6,549 ounces, compared to 5,729 ounces.

In other gold news, Ariana Resources plc (LON:AAU) said process recoveries of gold at the Kiziltepe Mine were higher than expected.

Ariana’s gross income for the quarter clocked in at US$6.98mln, with an average realised gold price of US$1,328.79 per ounce, compared to an operating cost of US$612 per ounce.

Elsewhere, Shefa Yamim ATM Ltd (LON:SEFA) told investors it has been granted two extended prospecting permits in Israel.

The permits span some 44,045 hectares with the Carmel permit area covering 32,755 hectares and the Ramot Menashe site covering 11,290 hectares.

Cadence Minerals Plc (LON:CAD) has relayed what are described as high-grade zinc and gold results from exploration work at Auroch Minerals’ Bonaventura Project in South Australia.

The AIM-quoted company owns a 7% interest in Auroch which has, using reconnaissance rock-chip sampling, confirmed high-grade zinc mineralisation (also containing lead, copper and silver) in the Grainger target area.

In other news, Greatland Gold plc (LON:GGP) updated investors on its operations at the Ernest Giles project in central Western Australia.

The AIM-listed firm revealed results from a recent Mobile Metal Ion (MMI) sampling programme, including 980 samples from the Meadows, Empress and Wishbone areas which have confirmed existing gold targets and generated new targets in each of the respective area.

"Results of our recent MMI campaign were better than expected as we identified new targets and confirmed existing known targets across all areas,” said Gervaise Heddle, Greatland Gold chief executive in a statement.

Meanwhile, Eurasia Mining plc (LON:EUA) updated the market on operations at its West Kytlim mine, the second largest alluvial platinum mine in the world.

The mine is now approaching its capacity of around 2,000 cubic metres (m3) per day. An initial 'first fill' test was completed successfully on May 3, with the first sample returning 428 grams (g) of raw platinum, for an average grade approaching 1g per m3.

Several successive days of continuous production followed, with the largest amount produced in a single day being 1.3 kilograms of raw platinum on 9th May 2018.
