Some Oath properties such as HuffPost and Tumblr, as well as a portion of its advertising business, already run on AWS.

“AWS’s innovative technologies have been very beneficial as we have grown our public cloud footprint over the years, and that is why we’ve chosen to expand our strategic relationship,” said Chief Technology Officer Atte Lahtiranta.

Oath joins several big-name companies that utilize Amazon.com Inc’s (NASDAQ:AMZN) cloud platform, including General Electric’s (NYSE:GE) GE Healthcare Unit and Intuit Inc (NASDAQ:INTU).

Earlier this month, Amazon announced that the number of businesses using its cloud platform more than tripled in the past year.

Sales of AWS grew 49% year-over-year, generating US$1.4bn and accounting for 73% of Amazon’s total operating income, according to its quarterly earnings report.

Shares of the e-commerce giant were down slightly in early trading to US$1,561.58.
