Tristel shares rise as US Environmental Protection Agency registers its cleaning product Duo

The AIM-listed firm said this registration enables the company to market Duo to clean and disinfect hard, non-porous surfaces

Tristel Plc (LON:TSTL) shares rose on Monday as it announced that the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has registered its foam-based chlorine dioxide product, Duo.

The AIM-listed firm said this registration enables the company to market Duo to clean and disinfect hard, non-porous surfaces.

The manufacturer of infection prevention products said the federal registration will be followed by state-by-state approvals, which the company expects to be completed by the end of 2018.

Tristel said it anticipates first revenues from the US during its 2018-19 financial year.

Paul Swinney, CEO of Tristel, commented: “We have achieved our first United States regulatory approval, and we will continue to pursue further registration with the EPA and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to build a broadly-based business in the USA.”

He added: “This first United States approval is a very significant step for our company as it enables us to access the largest healthcare market in the world. It has been our long-term ambition to be recognised as a global brand in the infection prevention industry.

“An active presence in the United States is necessary to achieve this ambition, and now we can build upon the foundation stone laid in our collaboration with Parker Laboratories Inc to progress confidently towards our goal."

In morning trading, company’s shares rose 9.9% to 305.0p.
