US benchmarks close higher
US crude up
TSX up over 37pts
US shares ended on a definite high, with the Dow Jones up over 428 points at 24,408.
The S&P 500 added over 43 points at 2,656, while the tech heavy Nasdaq added almost 144 points at 7,094.
In oil, US crude - West Texas Intermediate - added 3.71% to US$65.78 a barrel.
In Toronto, the TSX added over 37 points at 15,265.
A notable gainer was Teck Resources (TSE: TECK), which added 3.97% tom C$34.54.
On Wall Street, US automakers jumped. Ford Motor Company (NYSE: F) added 1.78% to US$11.45.
General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) added 3.25% to US$39.07, while Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) added 5.19% to US$304.70.
MID-SESSION
US shares joined the global equity rally on Tuesday and was higher at mid-session.
European indices closed, and FTSE 100 in London closed 1% higher, or 72 points.
At the time of writing on Wall Street, the Dow Jones added over 434 points at 24,413, the S&P 500 added almost 44 points at 2,656.
The tech heavy Nasdaq added over 126 points at 7,076.
US crude was flying, up 3.07% to US$65.37 a barrel.
In Toronto, the TSX added over 43 points at 15,271.
Notable movers included Kingtone Wirelessinfo Solution Holding Ltd (NASDAQ:KONE) shares surged over 43% to US$7.36.
VeriFone Systems Inc (NYSE:PAY) shares added over 51% to US$22.7 after the payment and commerce solutions company agreed to sell itself.
VeriFone agreed to be acquired by Francisco Partners, a technology-focused private equity firm for US$3.4bn, which includes Verifone's net debt.
Elsewhere, Spectrum Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:SPPI) added nearly 30% to US$19 after it said it was “encouraged” by a study of its poziotinib treatment for non-small cell lung cancer..
Elsewhere, New Age Beverages Corp (NASDAQ: NBEV) dropped over 17% to US$1.72 after it announced a stock offering.
Ampio Pharmaceuticals Inc (NYSE:AMPE) shed 7.52% to US$3.32.
In bigger stocks, Range Resources Corp (NYSE:RRC) was a big gainer, adding 6.53% to US$14.84 each.

Wall Street shares started strongly higher as concerns eased on the rising China, US trade tensions.
Comments made by Chinese President Xi Jinping suggested a less-aggressive stance on the issue, which has been dominating sentiment of late.
The Dow Jones surged over 359 points at 24,338, while the S&P 500 added over 32 at 2,645.

The Nasdaq added over 93 points at 7,043.
US crude - West Texas Intermediate - forged 2% ahead at US$64.67 a barrel.
European indices were also higher - with the FTSE 100 up over 43 points at 7,238, while the German DAX was up over 113 at 12,375.
In France, the CAC 40 was up over 23 points at 5,286.
In stocks, aerospace firm Boeing Co (NYSE:BA) added 3.11% to US$332.50 on the back of easing trade fears. Exxon Mobil Corp (NYSE: XOM) gushed 2.9% higher as crude prices firmed.
Nvidia Corp (NASDAQ: NVDA) shares added 4.17% to US$224.44 after heavyweight broker Morgan Stanley bumped the stock to 'overweight' and a Needham analyst remained positive, despite recent headwinds for the chipmaker.
Morgan Stanley’s Joseph Moore wrote in a note that strength in the gaming segment offsets any near-term crypto weakness as he raised the rating from 'equal weight’. He held his price target at US$258.
