OnTheMarket doubles website visitor traffic in first full month since AIM listing

OnTheMarket said the growth in traffic is “very encouraging” and expects momentum to continue over the coming months

Property search engine OnTheMarket PLC (LON:OTMP) said the number of visits to its website doubled in March.

Traffic to the website reached 12 million visits in March - the first full month since it began trading on London’s junior market AIM.

OnTheMarket said while it is still early days since its listing in February, it believes the growth in traffic is “very encouraging” and expects momentum to continue over the coming months.

Traffic will be supported by an increase in marketing, and more estate agents signing up and listing properties, it said.

“The early signs show that even before the full ramp up of marketing spend, we have been able to generate significant increases in our levels of traffic to the site,” chief executive Ian Springett said.

“We now look forward to a period of investment in marketing to build effective consumer engagement with the portal and will deploy more resource to proven marketing activities to attract more and more property-seeking consumers to OnTheMarket."

The company, which was launched in 2015 by a group of estate agents, has tried to reassure investors since its lacklustre listing on AIM in early February.

A week after its listing, the firm said a surge of new estate agents had signed up to its portal. It struck 81 new listing agreements with independent estate agencies and said it expects a “significant” amount more to follow.

The group raised just £30mln of its £50mln target ahead of its initial public offering. Shares fell from the issue price of 165p on 9 February to 148p by the market close that day, giving it a market capitalisation of £89.6mln -- well below its aim to reach a value of between £200mln and £250mln.
