Goldplat plc (LON:GDP) has completed the installation and commissioning of an elution plant at its gold recovery operation in Ghana.
The new piece of kit, which is used to extract the precious metal from other materials, has been in use for some weeks with the first gold pour earlier this month.

The company, which has its main gold recovery operation in South Africa and owns a mine in Kenya, said there were cost savings benefits to being able to elute and smelt on-site.
It also pointed out the additional infrastructure made it easier to expand the Ghana operation at the appropriate time.
The plant was a requirement when the company’s local subsidiary renewed its licence to purchase and deal in the yellow metal with a deadline of June 30 for installation.
“Completing this project internally is yet another example of the benefits of having an experienced in-house engineering team,” said chief executive Gerard Kisbey-Green.
