Dixons Carphone Plc (LON:DC) has poached Halfords Group plc's (LON:HFD) chief financial officer, Jonny Mason to be its group finance director, with his start date still to be confirmed.

In a statement, the FTSE 250-listed electricals retailer noted that Mason has been Halford's CFO since 2015 and acted as its interim chief executive officer between September 2017 and January 201. Prior to that, his career included CFO appointments at Odeon and UCI Cinemas and finance director of Sainsbury’s Supermarkets.

Alex Baldock, Dixon's incoming chief executive officer, said: “I am delighted to have Jonny by my side. He has an outstanding track record and brings the experience and qualities we need to take Dixons Carphone in the next phase of its transformation.”

In January, the Currys and PC World owner announced the departure of chief executive Sebastian James, who will be succeeded by Baldock.

In its own statement, Halfords said Mason will remain as CFO of the company until the end of his notice period in September 2018, adding that it has commenced the process to identify his successor.

In the lunchtime trading, Dixon’s shares were up 2.2% at 181.3p while Halfords shares were down 0.4% to 323.2p.
