St George Mining Ltd (ASX:SGQ) has intersected 13.6 metres of nickel-copper sulphide mineralisation at the Strickland Prospect within the Mt Alexander Project in Western Australia.
Notably, this result comes from the first diamond drill hole completed in the current program.
Drill results support thick nickel-copper sulphide mineralisation from hole MAD71 late last year intersecting 17.45 metres at 3.01% nickel, 1.31% copper, 0.13% cobalt and 1.68 g/t total PGEs.

The 13.6 metres of nickel-copper sulphide mineralisation was intersected from 40 metres downhole.
Preliminary grades were measured with an XRF gun revealing 3.94 metres of massive sulphides in the overall intersection averaging 4.7% nickel and 2% copper.

St George’s executive chairman John Prineas said: “This is a great start to the 2018 drilling program at Mt Alexander and gives us real momentum.
“It is very pleasing to see MAD85 return a thick intersection of nickel-copper sulphides that is comparable to the outstanding intersection in MAD71.
“The ultramafic channel at Stricklands is interpreted to have a strike over 400 metres, and the current program will continue to test this highly prospective channel for additional high-grade mineralisation.”
Drilling continues with a further 17 holes to be completed
Drilling at Mt Alexander is continuing with a further 17 planned drill holes to be completed in the current program.
Significantly, these thick intersections are within a large 200x150-metre electromagnetic (EM) anomaly at Stricklands.
The current drilling program will continue to test for extensions to the mineralised ultramafic at Stricklands, particularly where it is coincident with the EM anomaly.
