Tech stocks featured after the close Monday, after a session, which saw Wall Street shares lose ground and the Dow Jones plunge 335 points.
Computer group Oracle Corp (NYSE:ORCL) sank 8.76% to US$47.40 after the bell, following a lackluster earnings report.
The firm unveiled EPS (earnings per share), which were above Wall Street estimates and revenue was in line, but it was not enough to cheer traders.
Meanwhile, communications giant Blackberry Ltd (NYSE:BB) went the other way, with shares adding 3.35% to US$13.40 each after it announced a strategic partnership with Microsoft yesterday.
The two titans are teaming up to provide enterprises with a new service designed to protect corporate data on mobile devices.
Blackberry Enterprise Bridge has been billed as “a first-of-its-kind” way to provide a secure environment for users of Microsoft’s mobile apps, such as Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
The companies are targeting workers who require high levels of cybersecurity.
Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:MSFT) shares nudged up 10% after hours.
Last but not least, Opiant Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ:OPNT) shares lost 2.05% to US$25.80 after the pharmaceutical firm had earlier surged 27% in the regular session due to President Trump's decision to provide free Narcan, an emergency opioid overdose treatment sold by Opiant, to schools.
