Strategic Minerals boosts inferred resource at Redmoor by 100% and delineates further high-grade targets

The new inferred resource will be a key component in the pre-feasibility work planned for next year

Strategic Minerals Plc (LON:SML) has boosted the inferred resource at its Redmoor tin project in the UK by almost 100% to 4.5mln tonnes at 1.00% tin equivalent.

The resource update was completed by respected industry consultants SRK, and has established a continuity of the mineralised zone over a strike length of around 1,000 metres and for around 450 metres down dip.

The strike remains open at depth over much of its length.

Strategic Minerals has also identified a high-grade exploration target of between 4mln and 6mln tonnes at a grade of between 0.9% and 1.3% tin equivalent, as well as additional high-grade exploration potential both below and to the west of this target.

The company is now preparing a drill programme to follow up on this work.

"The inferred mineral resource estimate and exploration target provide another milestone on the path to the creation, again, of a working tin mine in the area,” said managing director John Peters.

“It also demonstrates the potential for the Redmoor project to host sufficient high-grade tungsten, tin and copper mineralisation to support an underground mining project. We believe that the 1.0% tin equivalent resource grade is truly world class. Exciting potential exists to increase the resource at this project and work is currently underway to bring it into pre-feasibility study level in 2019."
