Dropbox Inc. is aiming to raise around US$648mln via an initial public offering (IPO) of up to 36mln shares on Nasdaq at an expected price of between US$16 and US$18 each, according to a regulatory filing.
The cloud storage and file-sharing company also said it has agreed the sale of US$100mln in stock to the venture capital arm of Salesforce Inc. (NYSE:CRM) via a private placement at a price per share equivalent to that of the IPO
The share offering will value the company at more than US$7bln, Bloomberg reported, and the IPO - at the high end of the offering price - would be the third largest from an enterprise technology firm in the last three years.
A 2014 private fundraising round had valued Dropbox at almost US$10bln, Bloomberg added.
In its Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filing, Dropbox reported 2017 revenues at US$1.11bln, with a narrowed loss of US$111.7mln compared to US$210.2mln in 2016.
The company plans to list on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the DBX ticker symbol.
