Proactive Oil Highlights: Serica, SDX, Premier Oil, Union Jack, SOCO, Diversified Gas & Oil, Touchstone, Solo Oil, 88 Energy, Trinity, Pantheon

This week the oil and gas sector brought news of gas discoveries, acquisitions, and financial results

Serica Energy Plc (LON:SQZ) agreed to acquire stakes in three North Sea oil and gas fields from BP Plc (LON:BP).

The Bruce, Keith and Rhum fields (referred to collectively as BKR) have been producing some 16,000 barrels oil equivalent per day net to BP, following the January restart of the connected Forties pipeline.

SDX Energy Inc (LON:SDX,CVE:SDX) confirmed a new gas discovery in SAH-2, its latest well at the Sebou project onshore Morocco.

SAH-2 was drilled down to 1,304 metres and encountered some 5.2 metres of net conventional gas pay, across two zones (Guebbas and Hoot).

Premier Oil PLC (LON:PMO) chief executive Tony Durrant, in Thursday’s financial results, boasted of the growing oil producer’s recent success.

Output for the twelve months, to December 31, amounted to 75,000 barrels oil equivalent per day and, significantly, during the final month of the year it delivered first oil from the Catcher field.

Union Jack Oil PLC (LON:UJO) has increased its stake in the drill-ready Biscathorpe prospect ahead of an exploration well in mid-2018.

The deal was agreed in tandem with Humber Oil & Gas, a private company, which is teaming up with Union Jack through a new commercial tie-up focused on acquisitions.

SOCO International Plc (LON:SIA) told investors that it had withdrawn from talks with Kuwait Energy.

The company, in a statement, said it “could not reach agreement with Kuwait Energy on the basis for an acceptable transaction.”

Diversified Gas & Oil plc’s (LON:DGOC) daily gas production has doubled following the acquisition of Appalachian Basin gas producer Alliance Petroleum.

The deal was completed for a total consideration of US$95mln (£66.9mln) comprising the purchase price of US$70mln plus US$25mln of debts.

Caribbean oil firm Touchstone Exploration Inc (LON:TXP, TSE:TXP) revealed a 20% increase in proved reserves over the course of 2017.

In the annual barrel counting exercise, the group reported 1.75mln barrels of proved reserves and 2.83mln barrels of proved plus probable reserves (with the latter figure up 18% on the previous year).

Solo Oil PLC (LON:SOLO) confirmed the completion of its deal to acquire an additional stake in the Horse Hill project, onshore UK.

All conditions to the transactions were fulfilled, with the company paying £650,000 and issuing consideration shares to the seller Primorus Investments Plc.

88 Energy Ltd (LON:88E, ASX:88E) told investors that 98% of its listed (A$0.02 series) options were exercised before the March 2 expiry, resulting in an A$8.1mln injection of capital into the company.

A total of 405mln share options were exercised and via the recently agreed underwriting agreement Hartleys Limited will take up 8.7mln additional new shares.

Trinity Exploration & Production PLC (LON:TRIN) revealed a 74.6% rise in operating profit in what the company described as a “transformational year”.

Net production was at 2,519 barrels of oil per day in 2017, down 0.9% from the previous year. However, the average realised oil price increased significantly, up 23.4% to US$48.6 per barrel in 2017.

Meanwhile Pantheon Resources Plc (LON:PANR) updated investors on its operations in East Texas, where the VOBM#5 well has unearthed 60 feet of net pay in the Eagle Ford sandstone formation, and despite experiencing problems during drilling the plan is now to frack the well.

A frack crew is expected to be on site later this month, in the week beginning March 19, it will subsequently be tested – and, if successful, the well will be connected to gas processing facilities.
