Matador Mining refining copper targets at Copper Hills project

Soil geochemical sampling and mapping is underway as part of phase II work.

Matador Mining Ltd (ASX:MZZ) is carrying out field work to refine copper targets at its Copper Hills project in Western Australia’s Mid West.

Soil geochemical sampling and mapping is underway and forms part of phase II field work.

The program is focused on a prospective structural corridor trending in a north-northwest direction across the tenement.

Samples return strong copper grades

Of the 28 reconnaissance rock samples taken in the phase I program, 27 returned copper grades exceeding 1% with a peak value of 17.2%.

This sample, which was taken near the historical Copper Hill workings, reported a gold value of 2.36 g/t.

Program of work submitted

A program of works for maiden drilling of Copper Hills has been submitted to the Department of Mines and Petroleum and this is expected to begin immediately after approval.

The 9.2 square kilometre Copper Hills tenement is 42 kilometres south of Meekatharra.

Historical drilling has confirmed the presence of significant copper and gold mineralisation over a strike length of at least 2.2 kilometres.

It was most recently actively explored by ASX-listed Mithril Resources Limited (ASX:MTH).
