Harley-Davidson Inc (NYSE:HOG) is to recall 175,000 of its “motor-sickles” because of concerns over the anti-lock brakes (ABS).
The company said it is recalling all of its 2008-2011 Touring, CVO Touring and VSRC models equipped with ABS.

Harley-Davidson has learned that deposits may form on components within the brake system if the DOT 4 brake fluid is not replaced for a prolonged period of time beyond the two-year maintenance schedule specified in the owner’s manual.

Owners have been asked to return their bikes to a Harley-Davidson dealer, where the entire brake system will be flushed with new Platinum LabelDOT 4 brake fluid, free of charge.
The product recall is expected to start on Monday, February 12.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has been investigating the issue in the wake of 43 reported complaints, three of which came after crashes.
