Advanced Micro Devices Inc, Electronic Arts Inc, Juniper Networks Inc - AFTER HOURS

Proactive takes a look at after hours trade in New York

Stocks closed deeply lower in New York, and after the bell, Advanced Micro Devices Inc (NASDAQ:AMD), the computer chip maker, followed in the same vein for a while.

The stock plunged 6% before heading higher, and are now up 2.95% to US$13.25 as its fourth quarter results beat analysts' expectations on the top and bottom lines.

The firm also reported strong guidance. Where other companies have had to pay fees for tax reform, AMD said it received a one-time tax credit of US$18mln.

Notably, AMD shares are up over 25% in the year to date.

Elsewhere, Electronic Arts Inc (NASDAQ:EA), the video games firm, saw shares jump over 8.5% after the bell, after it reported third quarter revenue, that slightly missed expectations but reported guidance for the fourth quarter, which beat analysts' expectations.

Elsewhere, Illumina Inc (NASDAQ:ILMN) shares added 0.96% to US$243.50 after the biotech reported fourth quarter and fiscal 2017 financial results. Full year revenue was up by 17%.

Last but not least, Juniper Networks Inc (NYSE:JNPR) fell more than 8.6% in extended trading. The networking hardware company reported fourth quarter earnings of US$0.53 per share on revenue of US$1.24bn, just beating analysts' expectations of US$0.52 EPS on revenue of US$1.23bn.
