Qualcomm Inc (NASDAQ:QCOM) shares shed 1.23% after hours as it emerged that the company was fined €997mln (US$1.2 billion) by the European Union for paying tech titan Apple Inc (NASDAQ:AAPL) to shun rival chips in its iPhones.
Under the cosh Toys R Us was also in the news before the New York bell.
The company, which filed for bankruptcy protection in the US in September last year, has around 1,600 stores around the world and is closing 180 in the USA.

Before the bell, General Dynamics Corporation (NYSE:GD) is expected to report quarterly earnings of US$2.37 per share on revenues of US$8.40bn.
General Dynamics shares shed 0.47% to US$206.50 after hours.
