Former ITV boss Adam Crozier to replace Whitbread chairman Richard Baker

The former chief executive of ITV and Royal Mail, Adam Crozier, will take over as chairman

Costa Coffee owner Whitbread plc (LON:WTB) said on Thursday chairman Richard Baker is to step down at the end of February.

He will be replaced by Adam Crozier, a senior independent director of Whitbread and former chief executive of ITV plc (LON:ITV).

Crozier left the helm of ITV in June 2017 after seven years in the role, during which time he attempted to shift the broadcaster away from its over-reliance on TV ad revenue by building the digital channel.

He also previously served as chief executive at the Football Association and Royal Mail Group PLC (LON:RMG).

“I am delighted to become chairman of Whitbread and to help steer the company through the next chapter of its long history,” Crozier said in a statement.

Baker, who was appointed chairman in September 2014 after five years as an independent non-executive director on the board, said he felt it was the right time to hand over the reins after progressively scaling back his business responsibilities earlier last year.

"As I now approach my ninth Whitbread year end, we are executing our strategic plan to build a bigger and better Whitbread for the benefit of all stakeholders,” he said.

“We have a well-established chief executive and executive team, a refreshed board, and considerable momentum in delivering this plan.”
