Apple Inc, Mosaic Co and Sprint Corp - AFTER HOURS

Proactive takes a look at the after hours trade in New York

US shares closed Thursday higher with the Dow Jones hitting a new high - its 71st record close in 2017.

Making waves after the New York bell was tech giant Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL), which added 0.11% to US$170.90 as it continued to dominate news headlines over the festive period.

Yesterday, the iPhone maker issued an apology to customers, after reports emerged that it had introduced software that intentionally slows-down such phones with older batteries.

It also announced a US$50 reduction in the cost of replacing the batteries, to US$29, and an iOS (operating system) software update providing updates on iPhone battery health in early 2018.

Meanwhile, also after the bell, Fortune 500 firm Mosaic Co (NYSE:MOS) added 1.72% to US$26 each in relatively light volume after hours. The stock also finished yesterday up 0.27%.

Moasic on Friday's regular session added 0.57% to US$25.70.

Comms group Sprint Corp (NYSE:S) added 0.51% to US$5.94 after it emerged that Softbank had added to its stake in the firm. in the regular session, shares added 0.25% to US$5.92 each.
