CarMax shares slide as used car sales disappoint

Same store sales rose 2.7% in the three months, missing consensus for a 4.8% gain

Shares in used car dealership company CarMax Inc (NYSE:KMX) shed over 4% to US$65.52 in New York deals as its third quarter results did not meet Wall Street expectations.

Same store sales rose 2.7% in the three months , missing consensus for a 4.8% gain as used car sales fell.

The Virginia-based company said it had profit of 81 cents per share, against average consensus estimates for earnings of 82 cents per share.

The car chain posted revenue of US$4.11bn for the period, beating Street forecasts.
