Kairos Minerals to boost gold resource in the Pilbara

Completion of the Mt York drilling program indicates an extension of gold mineralisation.

Kairos Minerals (ASX:KAI) has revealed results from final drilling at the Mt York Gold-Lithium Project in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.

Some of the higher grade returns from the last eight holes included 4 metres at 4.87 g/t gold and 6 metres at 2.06 g/t gold.

The higher grade return is interesting given it was at a shallow depth of 4 metres, whereas the latter was delineated at a depth of 159 metres.

Results have now been received for all 21 holes completed in the drilling program, with assays for the final eight holes further enhancing previous promising results.

Continuation of high-grade mineralisation

Results released in early December included 11 metres at 6.97 g/t gold from 112 metres.

The latest assays appear to provide further confirmation of the continuity and predictability of the targeted banded iron formation (BIF) sequence.

This has been mapped over a current strike extent 3.5 kilometres, but the company is of the view that it could potentially extend over a much greater area.

Near-term catalysts include first-quarter resource upgrade

Drilling has identified high-grade shoots within the broader mineralised envelope.

The company is planning a follow-up drilling program for 2018 to target additional untested areas along the identified BIF horizon.

The drilling results will underpin an updated resource for the Mt York Project, which is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2018.
