Sound Energy completes first phase of 2D seismic in Morocco

“The seismic data density and integrity is of the high quality expected and already clearly highlights the 'A' structure,” Sound said in a statement

Sound Energy PLC (LON:SOU) told investors that it has now completed the first phase of 2D seismic and magneto-telluric (MT) data acquisition for its Eastern Morocco operations.

It is the first of a four-phase programme which is designed to assess the exploration potential of the assets, which will be followed up by drilling.

The first phase of seismic has looked at the ‘A Structure’ prospect which is located some 25 square kilometres from the Tendrara-5 location.

“The seismic data density and integrity is of the high quality expected and already clearly highlights the 'A' structure,” Sound said in a statement.

“The 'A' structure is expected to be the first target for the company's rapidly approaching three well exploration programme.”

Sound expects to receive processed fast-track results in January, to support a new competent persons report which is anticipated in the first quarter of the year, meanwhile, a reserves certification is due for the Eastern Morocco project ‘imminently’.

As for the ongoing seismic programme, a total of 445 kilometres have been captured out of a planned 2,800 kilometres.
