Gilead Sciences Inc (NASDAQ:GILD) shares are up 1.46% to US$75.30 in pre-market deals.

Gilead and its cell therapy subsidiary Kite Pharma have agreed a deal to purchase the biotherapeutics company Cell Design Labs for up to US$567mln.

The preclinical-stage company offers significant expertise in custom cell engineering and is currently developing two proprietary technology platforms, it was reported.
It also emerged today from Gilead that follow on work with 108 patients treated with Yescarta had shown that 42% had remained in remission after a median of 15 months and 56% were still alive.
Meanwhile, Celgene Corporation (NASDAQ: CELG) shares are up 2.74% to US$109 as the US biotech said it and Juno Therapeutics, Inc (NASDAQ: JUNO) had unveiled additional data from the TRANSCEND study of JCAR017 (lisocabtagene maraleucel; liso-cel) in patients with relapsed or refractory (r/r) aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL).
Meanwhile, Cytokinetics Inc could be a stock in focus too. It reported that VITALITY-ALS did not meet primary and secondary endpoints in Phase 3 trial of tirasemtiv.
