Myanmar Metals Ltd (ASX:MYL) has started metallurgical tests on samples from the Bawdwin Lead-Zinc-Silver-Copper Project in Myanmar.

This will provide guidance on expected metallurgical recoveries and considerations for the design of a process flow-sheet.

It will be the first independent test work conducted on Bawdwin in more than 30 years.

Myanmar Metals has an option to take a controlling interest in the project with its in-country partner Win Myint Mo Industries Co (WMM).

The Myanmar-based company holds the concession over the Bawdwin project.

Under ongoing guidance from CSA Global, Australian-based consultants BatteryLimits will provide metallurgical advice.

Drill core samples are being selected

Representative samples of expected high-grade and low-grade mill feed from diamond drill core are being selected.

These will be sent for analysis at a laboratory in Perth.

BatteryLimits will review the results and provide guidance to the project partners.

Meeting with Myanmar government

Myanmar Metals chief executive and chairman John Lamb, along with WMM representatives, last week met with Myanmar government officials.

A detailed presentation was made describing findings of a scoping study into an open pit operation at Bawdwin.

Results of the study are expected to be revealed later this month.

The recent revised inferred resource estimate was also outlined during the meeting.

The project contains 75.9 million tonnes at grades of 4.6% lead, 2.3% zinc, 0.25% copper and 119 g/t silver.

The Bawdwin Mine was reputedly one of the richest mines in the British Empire before World War II.

It was a world-class mine when in production and occurs in a volcanic complex that has never experienced systematic modern exploration.
