ANGLE plc (LON:AGL, OTCQX:ANPCY) has provided headline findings of an academic study which shows Parsortix, its ground-breaking liquid biopsy, outperforms other approaches to harvesting circulating tumour cells.
Known for short as CTCs, these blood-borne cells provide a tell-tale early sign of cancer.

Research by Professor Robert Zeillinger and his team at the Medical University of Vienna showed Parsortix was able to isolate CTCs in high purity without the need to separate them out, allowing direct molecular analysis.
“With alternative approaches for CTC enrichment such as density gradient centrifugation, this has not been possible, as high levels of contaminating white blood cells remain with the CTCs captured,” said ANGLE in a press release.
Success rate impressive
Using Parsortix helped the Vienna team to identify specific genes present in gynaecological and breast cancers – and the success rate in this regard was impressive.
The results from Zeillinger's Molecular Oncology Group were detailed in a peer-reviewed publication in the journal Oncotarget.

"This published study further demonstrates that the Parsortix system outperforms other approaches for harvesting circulating tumour cells from the blood of cancer patients in the fast emerging liquid biopsy market,” said ANGLE chief executive Andrew Newland.
“The capability to harvest cancer cells with high purity to allow direct molecular analysis of the cells strongly differentiates our system, which should facilitate adoption in clinical practice.”
