Amazon shares higher on Cyber Monday as Jeff Bezos's worth surpasses US$100bn

It comes as founder Jeff Bezos has become the second man to amass a personal fortune of more than US$100bn

Online shopping behemoth Amazon (NASDAQ:AMZN) shares are up 1.23% on Cyber Monday (today) at US$1,200.43 - expected to be the single biggest shopping day in American history.

It comes as founder and chief executive Jeff Bezos has become the second man to amass a personal fortune of more than US$100billion.

He surpassed Bill Gates to be the globe's richest man last month.

Bezos, 53, has seen his net worth reportedly rise by around $32.6billion (£24billion) to $100.3 billion this year alone.

Amazon shares on the shortened trading day on Friday rose 1.95%, turning Bezos into the world's only person currently worth more than $100 billion.

Jeff Bezos has reportedly become the first person worth $100 billion since the dot-com boom https://t.co/NRDxyY9sAq
