St George Mining’s drilling extends high-grade nickel, copper at Mt Alexander

Spot readings averaged 8% nickel and 3% copper at the Cathedrals Prospect.

St George Mining Ltd (ASX:SGQ) has drilled further massive nickel-copper sulphides extending the high grade mineralisation at the Cathedrals Prospect within its Mt Alexander Project in Western Australia.

The drill program commenced at the Cathedrals Prospect where a large ultramafic unit is interpreted to extend for a strike length of 400 metres, from shallow depths of 30 metres below surface.

One of the drill holes intersected 3.25 metres of massive, matrix and stringer sulphides from 52.85 metres downhole, at the Cathedrals ultramafic.

The massive sulphides averaged 8% nickel and 3% copper from portable XRF readings.

Another drill hole intersected 2.24 metres of massive sulphides from 180 metres downhole with spot XRF readings ranging from 2% to 11% nickel and up to 1.5% copper, at the Cathedrals footwall fault.

John Prineas, executive chairman, commented: “This is an excellent start to the drill programme with further high grade mineralisation being identified in both the Cathedrals ultramafic and the footwall fault.

“The upcoming drill holes offer more exciting potential with new targets at the mineralised Stricklands and Investigators prospects and also targets in unexplored areas like Anomaly 11 to the south of Cathedrals.”

The diamond drill rig has now mobilised to the Stricklands Prospect.

The first drill hole at Stricklands will test for extensions to massive sulphide mineralisation intersected in past drilling.

St George is also exploring the East Laverton Project, positioned near the Tropicana deposit which hosts +8 million gold ounces and the Gruyere deposit which has +6 million gold ounces.
