Kohl’s Corp shares dive premarket after third quarter misses market expectations

Same-store sales rose 0.1% during the quarter, which was above market consensus of a 0.7% decline

Kohl's Corp. (NYSE:KSS) saw its shares dive in premarket trade after its third quarter results failed to meet market’s expectations.

In a statement, the retailer said that in the quarter, net income came in at US$117.0mln, or 70 US cents per share, lower from the US$146.0mln or 83 US cents per share, reported the year before.

Market consensus was for 72 US cents per share.

Same store sales higher

In the same quarter, revenue stood at US$4.33bn, unchanged from the year before and in line with Wall Street’s expectations.

Same-store sales rose 0.1% during the quarter, which was way above market consensus of a 0.7% decline.

The retailer has lifted its full year 2017 EPS guidance to US$3.72 - US$3.92, and adjusted EPS of US$3.60 to US$3.80 from the previous guidance of US$3.50 - US$3.80 per share for EPS and adjusted EPS of US$3.76.

In premarket trade, its shares were down 7.23% at US$37.84.
