Humana Inc.(NYSE:HUM) shares were slightly higher in premarket trade after it said third quarter revenue slipped 3.0% year on year and came in below market expectations.
In a filing to the Securities and Exchange Commission, the company said revenue during the quarter came in at US$13.282bn from US$13.69bn, just below Wall Street’s consensus of US$13.325bn.

It said premiums revenue declined 3.1% to US$12.96bn, again below expectations for US$13.04bn, while its services revenue, which fell 1.8% to US$223mln also missing expectations for US$233mln.
During the quarter, investment income revenue rose 8.3% to US$104mln, but it was still below expectations for US$104.9mln.
In a separate press statement, the health plan administrator said its third quarter earnings per share beat analysts’ consensus. It also raised its full year adjusted EPS outlook US$11.60 from US$11.50.
Later in the session shares slumped back 5.04% to US$£243.48 each.
