Morgan Advanced Materials keeps guidance as carbon arm picks up momentum

Sales for the ten months to October 2017 rose by 1%

Ceramics and carbon group Morgan Advanced Materials plc (LON:MGAM) has had a mixed second half of the year.

Sales for the ten months to October 2017 rose by 1%, but the period from July was slightly stronger at 2.3% as momentum picked up in the carbon and technical ceramics division.

Sales here were 5.6% higher though Thermal Products dipped 2.1% with declines in Europe and North America.

Full year outlook remains "unchanged" with consensus for underlying earnings [EBITA] is £118mln with a range of £114-120mln.

UBS says lower end of that forecast range could move up, but the broker is sticking with its 320p price target and neutral rating.

Shares eased 2% to 318p.
