Galantas Gold receives notice of appeal on planning consent court ruling

Galantas Gold said development of the Omagh gold mine in Northern Ireland continues

Galantas Gold Corporation PLC (LON:GAL, CVE:GAL) said it has received a notice of appeal after the Belfast High Court denied a third party’s request to quash planning consent at the Omagh gold mine.

In last September, the AIM-listed firm announced a positive outcome to a judicial review into the planning consent for underground development at its wholly-owned mine in Northern Ireland.

The consent was granted in July 2015 following an exhaustive study and examination by the Department of Environment Northern Ireland (DOENI). It permitted the underground mining of gold veins that were recently worked in upper levels within an open pit.

In a statement on Friday, the group said its development of the mine continues with a total of about 119 metres of development in place. This includes development on a stringer gold vein, intersected during development of the main access tunnel.

Galantas said the operational processing plant is on stand-by awaiting ore from underground development.
