Corero customer renews US$200,000 SmartWall contract for third straight year

"This important renewal demonstrates the exceptionally high levels of customer satisfaction across our growing customer base”

Corero Network Security PLC (LON:CNS) is clearly doing something right after one of its early customers renewed its contract for the third consecutive year.

The renewal with the unnamed digital enterprise client is worth over US$200,000 and will see Corero continue to supply its SmartWall Threat Defense System.

SmartWall provides “always-on real-time” DDoS mitigation to make sure a company’s online business is not impacted by DDoS cyber-attacks.

"This important renewal demonstrates the exceptionally high levels of customer satisfaction across our growing customer base with Corero delivering world class subscription and support renewal rates,” said president Andrew Lloyd.

What is DDoS?

DDoS stands for distributed denial of service, which is a cyber-attack where the perpetrator seeks to make a machine or network resources unavailable to its intended users by disrupting the host.

It’s normally carried out by flooding the targeted machine or network with excessive requests in an attempt to overload the system and prevent all legitimate requests being fulfilled.

Think of it like a crowd of people blocking entry to a shop and not allowing genuine customers to enter, which subsequently disrupts normal operations.

Corero’s technology is designed to protect businesses and their customers from having to deal with these kind of issues.

Corero shares were down 5.7% to 6.01p late on Wednesday afternoon.
